Honourable laureates

Actors who have received Georges awards three times become honourable laureates of the awards, get a special prize and are excluded from voting for the next three years. The only honourable laureate of Georges awards so far is Johnny Depp. He is closely followed by Meryl Streep, Natalie Portman, Robert Downey Jr., Ivan Okhlobystin and Chulpan Khamatova who have received two matryoshkas each.

Johnny Depp

The first honourable laureate of Georges awards was Johnny Depp, who had won in the nomination the Best Foreign Actor three times in a row. At the awarding ceremony in 2007 the deserved matryoshkas were received in favor of Depp by his friend Bill Hanti, who later passed them to the actor.

In 2008, when Depp was leading in voting for the fourth time already, the organization committee made a decision to exclude Johnny from voting and to award Christian Bale, who took the second place by the results of voting. As a compensation at Georges awarding ceremony 2009 Johnny Depp was marked with a special prize labeling Simply the Best.

On December, 3, 2010, at a Paris press-junket on occasion of world premiere of Tourist KinoPoisk portal’s chief-editor Mikhail Klochkov handed this honourable prize to Johnny Depp — a wooden egg ornamented by hand. The egg is adorned with the inscription “Johnny Depp — Simply the Best”, the Georges’ logo and Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow’s portrait.
